Yami Gautam received accolades for her act in the Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer Bala (2019). Many felt it was an award-winning performance and that she deserved a Best Supporting Actor gong. But she found her name missing from the nominations this awards season.
Yesterday, the actor took to social media and wrote that she was compelled to express her view “in response to the countless messages that she had been receiving” for being ignored. She wrote, “Winning an award does feel like a strong sense of achievement and confidence. But more than that, a nomination in itself, is a mark of respect towards your hard work… these are experiences which make you even more self-assured and determined in life (sic).”
Upon reading this profound note, Yami’s Vicky Donor and Bala co-star Ayushmann Khurrana responded to it saying, “So proud YG”, while an Instagram user said, “This right here, is what makes you YOU.”
Uri director Aditya Dhar wrote, “Hi Yami! A very dear friend of mine @amaanalibangash recently shared a quote that his father the Legendary Ustaad Amjad Ali Khan Shahab always reminds him of, he said.. ‘Someone who’s better than you in work is not your competition but someone who is more humble then you is your biggest competitor.’ The humility and grace in this post show that you are and will always be a winner for life!! God Bless You!”
Yami Gautam will next be seen in Ginny Weds Sunny, a romcom, opposite Vikrant Massey.
